Craft Track User Manual

Every Bottle Has a Story

Getting Started

Why we track: craft over chance

  • Replicate your 5-star batches with records you can trust.
  • Understand the 1-star ones so you never pay for the same mistake twice.
  • Ingredients, stage readings and note steps stay together — every bottle has a story.

Getting Started

The 1-star savings principle

  • A failed 50 L wash wastes sugar or grain, yeast and nutrients.
  • Power and cooling water add to the loss — even when nothing reaches a bottle.
  • The full record pins down the culprit instead of repeating the expense.

Getting Started

First launch & the best view

  • Tick both boxes and accept the Terms & Conditions on first launch. Re-read them any time from the Overview page or Backup.
  • iPad / iPhone: Safari → Share → Add to Home Screen for a full-screen app.
  • Mac / PC: Chrome's install icon in the address bar, or Safari → File → Add to Dock.

Inventory

Adding items & low stock

  • Add each item with its stock, unit and low-stock level.
  • Every unit box remembers the last unit you picked in it.
  • Inventory opens on the Low Stock view so you see what's running out first. Tap Low Stock to see everything.

Inventory

Supplier ratings & Freight Saver

  • Tap the stars beside a supplier to rate the shop 1–5 (tap the same star again to clear).
  • With Low Stock on, items are grouped by supplier so you can order everything from one shop and pay freight once.
  • Copy order list puts that shop's low items on the clipboard, ready to paste into an email or checkout.
  • Mark an item On order to record the date and supplier.

Recipes

Create, rate & use recipes

  • Create a recipe, then add its ingredients — stock is checked and taken out of Inventory.
  • Rate recipes so favourites and failures are easy to tell apart.
  • Use Recipe starts a new Fermentation linked to that recipe.
  • Print gives you a paper copy of ingredients and steps.

Recipes

Batch Scaler

  • Open a recipe's ingredients and tap Batch Scaler.
  • Enter the source recipe exactly as given (e.g. 100 L) and your own wash size (e.g. 15 L).
  • Converted amounts show live; the recipe list is greyed out until you finish.
  • Tap Create Scaled Recipe — only the converted amounts are added and checked against stock.

Production Stages

From stage to stage

  • Inventory → Recipes → Fermentation → Distillation → Aging → Bottling → Digital Cellar.
  • Codes: F = Fermentation, D = Distillation, A = Aging, BT = Bottling.
  • Complete stage asks for the missing details (like the end date); then Send to the next stage.
  • Bottling finishes with Seal to cellar.

Production Stages

Note Steps — the bottle's journey

  • Tap + Note on any stage card, or use Note Steps inside its pop-up.
  • Each note records its date and stage automatically (you can backdate it).
  • History lists every note from every stage by date — the bottle's whole journey.

Production Stages

Run types & dilution warning

  • Pick Stripping, Spirit or Feints — the still and mode fill in automatically.
  • If dilution hasn't been applied when you send on, you can Enter it or Ignore.
  • Temperature-corrected ABV and dilution maths are worked out as you fill in the cards.

Instruments

Alcometer water zero-check

  • Float it in clean water: at 20°C it must read 0%.
  • At any other temperature, check the reading with the ABV temperature calculator on the Calculators page.
  • If water still reads 3% or more after the temperature adjustment, the scale has slipped — replace it.

Cellar

Digital Cellar shelves

  • Sealed bottles appear on shelves under their label's plaque.
  • Tap a bottle for its full history and journey.
  • Press and hold a bottle to move it — even to another shelf.

Cellar

Empty Bottles & Acquired Collection

  • Finished bottles move to Empty Bottles — their history, ratings and tasting notes are kept.
  • Bottles you buy go in the Acquired Collection with price, vintage and your own photo.

Backup & Privacy

Safeguarding your records

  • Paper gets wet and memories fade — don't lose 2 or 3 years of work.
  • A one-file backup takes 5 seconds and restores everything on any device.
  • Keep a recent backup somewhere other than the device you use.

Backup & Privacy

Local-first storage & privacy

  • Craft Track's goal is 100% on-device storage — your records stay yours.
  • The backup is one file you can AirDrop or message between iPad, iPhone and computer.
  • Cloud is reserved for logins and subscriptions — never your recipes or cellar.
  • Treat backup files as private: whoever has the file has the records.

Backup & Privacy

Backup, restore & Clean Slate

  • Backup & Restore (top right) saves or restores everything.
  • A reminder appears when you close the app if there's anything new to back up.
  • Clean Slate clears test data: Keep Recipes & Inventory, or Full Factory Reset. Counters restart at 1.
  • Save a backup first — a reset can't be undone.
